OUR MISSION

CARL R.
(CHIP) GRIFFIN, 28th year, grew up in Boothbay Harbor,
attended public schools for 12 years in the Boothbay Region, and
graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 1973. Selected Phi
Beta Kappa, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bowdoin College in
1977. He was a Dean’s List student at the University of Maine
School of Law, graduating in 1980. He has owned and managed his
law firm in Boothbay Harbor since 1980. Memberships include: American
Bar Association, Maine State Bar Association, and past president
of the Lincoln County Bar Association.
A member of the Real Estate Section and Trust
and Estates Section of the Maine State Bar Association, Chip is
also part of the Law Practice Management and Real Property, and
Trusts and Estate sections of the American Bar Association. He has
been a faculty member since 1999 of the Maine State Bar Association’s
“Bridging the Gap” seminar, writing and speaking on
law practice management.
He is the only Lincoln County Attorney who is
a member of the Elder Law section of the Maine State Bar Association
and the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys. Areas of concentration
include estate planning, estate administration, elder law, real
estate, business, and land use. He has served on several volunteer
boards, including his church, Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club (a past
president with over 25 years perfect attendance), Boothbay Region
YMCA, Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund, Rebuilding Together, Boothbay
Harbor Historical Society, and Safe Passage (helping the children
of the Guatemala City Garbage Dump).
Chip’s lifelong passion is his family and
community. He and his wife, Denise, have two daughters. They enjoy
traveling, biking, and hiking together. He enjoys delving into local
history, moderating Boothbay Harbor town meetings, and daily reading
in a broad variety of subjects.
Chip has published two local history books, Coming
of Age on Damariscove Island, published in 1981, and I’m
Different, a biography of Ethelyn Pinkham Giles and a twentieth-century
history of the Boothbay Region, published in 1999. He has published
many articles and has taught estate planning for adult education
over the past 15 years.

ANNE D.
MOSHER, 17th year, travels each day from Bath, where she
was born and raised. Following high school she studied retailing,
merchandising, and advertising at two colleges, in both Maine and
Florida. Initially she managed a women’s clothing store and
later held positions as Merchandising Manager for women’s
fashions and Advertising Manager and Merchandising Coordinator with
J.C. Penney.
For ten years Anne was involved in various types
of sole proprietorships, including sales agent of two different
consumer product lines, as well as a partner of two wholesale/retail
seafood markets in both Bath and Topsham.
Anne and her husband live in Bath and are parents
of four adult children, and two grand-dogs. Anne owned and operated
a state-registered day care for four years while pursuing a degree
in business administration and paralegal certification, graduating
from Andover College first in her class.
Working weekends for Chip in 1991, she began her
full-time duties as a paralegal with the firm in June 1992. She
deals primarily with real estate planning, contracts and real estate
closings, performs abstracting, and is also responsible for all
of the firm’s title insurance. Participated in community groups
in Bath and Rebuilding Together here in Boothbay Harbor.

MARY T. SPROUL,
19th year, graduated
with honors from Holyoke Community
College as she worked full-time as a store manager for AAFES at
the
Connecticut Air National Guard and at Westover Air Force Base in
Massachusetts. Mary went back to school in 2001 and earned her paralegal
certificate in 2002 from Andover College in Portland.
As we have grown over the years, Mary has been instrumental to many
aspects
of the practice, including office and information technology; marketing,
website design, office brochures, questionnaires, and newsletters;
bookkeeping and billing; and office and file management.
Mary's legal experience includes real estate, business law,
debtor/creditor
law, estate planning, and estate administration. She is primarily
working
in the fields of real estate as well as business entities and planning.
Mary is active in Girl Scouting as a Cadet Leader,
Juliette Consultant, and Adult Education Facilitator. Mary has also
served as superintendent of the Sunday School at the United Methodist
Church, as well as president of the Board of Directors for the Harbor
Children's Center, a non-profit child care, preschool, and after-school-care
program.

SANDY
PAXSON, 6th year, moved here from Pennsylvania 11 years
ago, when she, her husband, and their two children, fell in love
with the Boothbay region on a visit here and decided to settle right
in. The family enjoys going to Seadog games, traveling, and walking
the local Land Trust trails.
Sandy is serving her fourth term as a member of
the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor CSD school committee. She has also
worked on several non-profit groups in the community, including
the board of directors for The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor, the
building committee for the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, and
as a former vice president of the Boothbay Region PTA.
Sandy obtained her paralegal certificate at Penn
State University and now works with our clients in the areas of
estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, and elder
law and Medicaid issues. In the past, she has also worked with the
office bookkeeping, marketing, and office management.

KATI E. HUNT,
3rd year, moved to Maine in 1993 after
graduating from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY, with a BA
in American literature and a minor in political science. Soon after,
while working at The First, she met her husband, Dale, a painting
contractor, as he was completing paint renovations at the Damariscotta
branch, and now she helps with his thriving painting company.
Kati, her husband and their two children, live
in their family home in Jefferson, Maine. Hobbies include golfing,
boating, travel and renovating their family home. Kati is an active
board member and development membership chair for Wawenock Country
Club and is the treasurer of the Great Salt Bay Community School
PTO. Kati also help out with Boosters Club at her children’s
school and supports her children’s various sports teams with
her husband. She looks forward to becoming even more involved with
her children’s school and Rebuilding Together program.
Kati’s responsibilities are in areas of
estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, elder
law, and Medicaid issues.

KEVIN BOWLER,
3rd year, is from Virginia by way of Pennsylvania
and then Delaware. Kevin and her husband left corporate life to
find their way to Maine and its way of life. Kevin has worked in
our community on various committees and organizations serving on
the board of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce, past
chairman of the Windjammer Festival, past president, treasurer and
chicken barbecue master for the Boothbay Civic Association, and
assorted Town committees. Kevin enjoys gardening, cooking and quilting.
Kevin’s primary responsibilities are office
management, accounting, technology, website updates and whatever
task is requested..

SARAH E.
GILES, 17th year, is a local native, hailing from an East
Boothbay shipbuilding family. She graduated in 1963 from Boothbay
Region High School and is the proud mother of three children and
five grandchildren.
Sarah attended Franconia College in New Hampshire
after high school. While raising her family, Sarah continued with
night courses at a local community college. She received her Real
Estate Broker’s License in 1972 in Connecticut, where she
lived for 11 years before returning to Maine. In 1977 she received
her Maine Real Estate Broker’s License and was a Broker with
Harbor Realty.
Sarah enjoys cooking, gardening, needle work,
knitting, sewing, and reading. She also volunteers as treasurer
of the St. Andrew’s Free Bed Fund, The Boothbay Region Historical
Society, and The East Boothbay United Methodist Church; delivers
Meals on Wheels; and is a director of Rebuilding Together and member
of the Lincoln County Friends of Safe Passage.
Sarah is our “right-hand” receptionist
and office-ally extraordinaire. Sarah’s great attitude and
humor, coupled with her willingness to tackle any chore, keeps our
phones, files, and faxes flowing.

BELLA GRIFFIN,
3rd year, our Bernese Mountain Dog, is our “official”
receptionist as she welcomes everybody who walks through the door.
Bella’s listening skills and guarding secrets, modeled after
the staff’s, eases clients when she often joins in conferences
with her dad, Chip Griffin.
